Just when you thought the new A-class couldn’t get any lustier, the pointed star marque wants you to drool more with the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG. slated to make its world premiere at the Geneva Auto Show 2013 next month, this steroid-pumped A-class is fitted with the world’s most powerful production four-cylinder engine, a hand-built AMG 2.0-liter straight four turbocharged unit, pumping out 360 hp (265 kW) with an equally impressive peak torque of 450 Nm (332 lb-ft). mated to an AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed sports transmission, the A45 makes a century sprint in just 4.6 seconds and on its way to an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph). despite its exhilarating performance, the A45 AMG is no fuel guzzler: it achieves 6.9 liters per 100 kilometers in NEDC combined mode (about 34 mpg). on the performance end, the A45 received a host of upgrades from the AMG bin, including AMG 4MATIC all-wheel drive, sports exhaust system with exhaust flap, high-performance cooling system with components from the SLS AMG, 3-stage ESP with ESP Curve Dynamic Assist, sports suspension, speed-sensitive sports steering, high-performance braking system, AMG aerodynamic package and 18-inch twin spoke AMG light alloy rolling stocks in titanium grey with a high sheen finish, wrapped in 235/40 R18 tires. on the inside, you will be greeted with a multifunction steering wheel with shift paddles, AMG Drive Unit, carbon-fiber look dash and red accents spread stylishly across the interior. the Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG is set to go on sale on the April 8, 2013 and will be likely to remain exclusive to the European market for now. learn more about the new Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG HERE.
